OBITURARY

S. NORFLEET "FLEET" ALLEN III

ALLEN, S. Norfleet II "Fleet", Age 79, of Nashville, TN, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, S. Norfleet Allen and mother, Inez Petrie Allen; wife, Lena Luna Allen; sister, Jeanne Allen Gaiser; and daughter, Jeannne Marie Allen. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Judson Allen; granddaughters, Julia Morgan and Leah Carter Allen; and nephew, Allen N. Gaiser.

Mr. Allen was a graduate of The Duncan School and Tennessee Tech University. He was an owner of Southern Sales Company in Nashville and worked in the water treatment industry for over 50 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force; member of the Vine Street Christian Church; and longtime member of the Cedar Creek Yacht Club and the Nashville Yacht Club. Mr. Allen was a Mason and member of Phoenix Lodge #131; a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry; a member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple; and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.

Fleet was an ever present positive influence on both the Cedar Creek Yacht Club and the Nashville Yacht Club offering his extensive expertise as a fine seaman, Captain as well as engineer and friend. Fleet was extremely generous with his gift of time. His participation in Yacht Club activities were legendary when reviewing his leadership and participation. Whether it involved the planning of a cruise outing or the engineering of a project at the CCYC, Fleet's ability to focus and lead the effort was the signature of his character.
